"Rue Ernest Bloch"
Contrasting street signs can be found in the two towns marking the beginning and ending of the life of Ernest Bloch: 1880 to 1959. Here is the sign in Geneva, Switzerland. The photo for Agate Beach (Newport), Oregon, thanks to the Newport City Council, is posted at the Photo Resources tab. That sign now marks a point on Highway 101 in Newport (Agate Beach), Oregon near the home where Ernest Bloch lived from 1941 until his death in 1959.

2011 -- 3rd International Ernest Bloch Music Competition -- 2011
The Ernest Bloch Music Competition was begun in 2009 and has drawn much worldwide interest. Ernest Bloch (24 July 1880 – 15 July 1959) was a Swiss-born, American-Jewish composer and, since the 50th anniversary of his death was commemorated in 2009, the addition of the Ernest Bloch Music Competition to the Israeli Music Competition has drawn much worldwide interest. It has therefore been decided to make the Ernest Bloch Music Competition a regular part of the Israeli Music Competition. Each competitor is asked to play a prescribed classical composition, a piece of their own choice, as well as a piece by Bloch for the Ernest Bloch Competition. Please register via the website.
Deadline: 6 May 2011 Competitions: 10 July 2011 - 14 July 2011
